Ride2Survive Sullivan County, Inc.

Our Founders

Ride 2 Survive-Sullivan County, Inc. is a community based volunteer organization whose mission is to assist with transportation expenses for Sullivan County residents or those receiving treatment locally, who are under the care of an oncologist and who have been diagnosed with cancer or pre-malignant conditions.

Transportation expenses will be supplemented to patients receiving cancer treatment at an accredited institution.  Every patient will be considered when an application is received.

The following is a statement by the founders of Ride 2 Survive-Sullivan County, Inc., Glorianne Ellison and Kara Passante, explaining  how Ride 2 Survive Sullivan County, Inc. came to be.

“ Having both gone through breast cancer in 2011, we understand how the shock and fear of a cancer diagnosis feels. The transportation cost for chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and physician visits will add up and become an unexpected burden. Eleven years later, we and the board of Ride-2-Survive would like to thank you for your continued support in our mission of helping others travel the roads to better health. You have made us what we are today. Ride 2 Survive’s purpose is about more than just money, we are friends helping friends. Our assistance is not only financial, but a gesture of encouragement. Together, we hope to offer a little relief and a lot of support.” – Glorianne Ellison and Kara Passante

While passing signs and motorists the trees go flying by.
Miles add up tires wear down, we might break down and cry,
But courage and hope renew our faith the trips are not in vain.
So we’ll  keep on moving down the roads through snow and wind and rain.

(Chorus)
The road is paved with love on this journey to stay alive,
Fueled by hope and caring, we’re part of the ride to survive.
The road is paved with love on this journey to stay alive,
Fueled by hope and caring, we’re part of the ride to survive.

The news is good. The news is bad. We take it all in stride.
Looking for options we continue on our drive.
Searching to find the recipe that gives our dreams a chance,
To grow for more years to come, to laugh and sing and dance.

(Chorus)

Potholes, bumps and rough roads won’t prevent us from going.
We feel the love of friends and gain strength in just our knowing,
That together these paths we travel with no map to show the way,
Will end with health and well-being for all of us one day.

(Chorus)
